The market share of domestic cutting tools will increase 360

"During the '12th Five Year Plan' period, China's tool industry will focus on developing efficient cutting tools, and the high-end market share of domestically produced efficient cutting tools will increase from about 15% to 30% to 40%. At the same time, it is necessary to choose production lines for several typical components in modern manufacturing industries such as aerospace, energy transportation, and national defense and military industry, provide comprehensive services in processing technology and cutting tools, enhance the ability to provide comprehensive solutions for manufacturing enterprises, and thus enhance the overall competitiveness of China's tool enterprises."

　　

On August 22-25, Hao Ming, Chairman of the China Machinery Industry Metal Cutting Tool Technology Association, gave the above description to the attending representatives on behalf of the association at the 2011 Expanded Meeting of the Executive Directors of the Tool Association regarding the development goals of the tool industry during the 12th Five Year Plan period.

Regarding the topic of how to achieve the development goals of the 12th Five Year Plan, Chairman Hao Ming introduced the planning ideas on policy measures, system construction, technical measures, and other aspects of developing domestic cutting tools. When discussing technical measures, Hao Ming pointed out the need to achieve breakthroughs in three aspects: first, to achieve key breakthroughs in key technologies of high-speed steel, hard alloys, and superhard tool materials; Secondly, in terms of coating technology, it is necessary to establish a key coating technology platform, research new coating methods, and achieve breakthroughs in coating material systems with independent intellectual property rights; Thirdly, we must continue to promote the development of digital design and manufacturing technology, vigorously promote the application of modern tool manufacturing equipment, establish effective cutting database systems, and develop advanced CNC tool grinding, material forming equipment, and edge strengthening equipment.

   

The domestic tool market has great development potential. According to Shen Zhuangxing, in the year 2009 when the financial crisis was rampant, the overall consumption of the domestic tool market only decreased by about 15%, while the consumption of the tool market in developed countries abroad generally decreased by 40% to 45%. But just one year later, driven by strong demand in the manufacturing industry, the total consumption of domestic cutting tools market quickly recovered and exceeded the historical highest level, reaching a new historical high of 33 billion yuan.

   

In 2011, the domestic tool market continued to maintain rapid growth and is expected to create a new historical peak. "Statistical data shows that the domestic tool market achieved a growth rate of 25% to 30% in the first half of the year alone. Although the growth rate has slowed down since July, it can still achieve a growth rate of 15% throughout the year," said Shen Zhuangxing. By comparison, in recent years, the international tool market has maintained stable recovery, but the conservative estimate of annual growth rate is only around 3% to 5%. After experiencing high-speed growth last year, the domestic market will gradually maintain a stable annual growth rate of 10% to 15%. Therefore, the capacity growth rate of the domestic tool market will be more than three times faster than that of the international market.
